With her book "Zeit zum Atmen," Clara Happ offers an artistic exploration of the work of mountaineer Reinhard Karl. Inspired by his photographs, she created high-contrast woodcuts and linocuts. The graduate of the HAWK Master's program in Design has now received a Red Dot Award for her work.

HAWK graduate Clara Happ wins Red Dot Award

About the book: Reinhard Karl published the book "Erlebnis Berg: Zeit zum Atmen" (Mountain Experience: Time to Breathe) in 1980. His way of recounting the events he experienced while simultaneously questioning them, showing his vulnerability and taking readers into his emotional world, has made him an idol for an entire generation of climbers. Clara Happ's publication draws on the themes of the original texts, providing answers to numerous questions: "Why do people climb mountains? Why an analog medium? Why Reinhard Karl?" The result is a book that is a declaration of love for analog photography, the art of woodcutting and linocut, and the magical attraction of the medium itself.
